Healthcare & Insurance for Retirees in Pattaya
Healthcare is the single most important — and most under-thought — part of retiring abroad. Pattaya's hospitals can be excellent. The hard part is insurance as you get older.
For most people, healthcare is the deciding factor in whether retiring abroad works long-term. Pattaya is well served by private hospitals with international standards, and routine care is often faster and far cheaper than back home.
But we won’t sugar-coat the part that matters most: health insurance gets more expensive — and harder to get — as you age, and pre-existing conditions are frequently excluded. A plan that’s affordable in your fifties can become eye-watering in your seventies, and some insurers stop offering new cover past a certain age.
This is the most carefully-sourced section on the site. We’ll cover the main hospitals, realistic costs, how insurance works by age band, and the uncomfortable question everyone should think about before they move: what’s my plan if I can’t get, or can’t afford, cover later?
