We keep data collection to a minimum and explain it plainly, in everyday language.
What this site collects now
- Infrastructure and performance telemetry. Cloudflare provides this site's delivery and security infrastructure. Production currently loads Cloudflare Browser Insights (Real User Monitoring), so technical visit and performance information is sent to Cloudflare.
- Optional Google Analytics. If you choose “Allow analytics”, Google Analytics receives information about visits and page use so we can understand which guides readers find. The site does not enable Google advertising storage, ad personalisation or Google Signals. Google states that GA4 uses IP addresses for coarse location at collection time and discards them before the data is logged.
- No newsletter form is active. The downloadable guides are direct files and do not require an email address.
- Browser-based planning tools. Calculator and worksheet entries are processed in the page while you edit. They are not automatically added to the address bar, saved in a calculator database or sent to Google Analytics.
Links created by the planning tools
The tools create a shareable link only when you choose the copy-link action. A new share link puts the figures after the # in its address. Browsers do not send that fragment as part of the ordinary page request, but anyone who receives the link can still read the figures. The page uses them to initialise the tool and then removes them from the visible address bar.
Older share links may contain figures after a ?. The tools still accept those links once and remove the figures from the address bar, but the query is part of the initial page request. Do not share any tool link containing information you consider private.
Analytics choices, cookies & affiliate links
The Google Analytics tag is blocked unless you allow analytics. Your choice is stored in this browser so the site can remember it. If you decline, the Google tag is not loaded. You can reopen Analytics choices from the footer at any time; declining after previously allowing analytics updates Google's consent state and removes this site's Google Analytics cookies where the browser permits it.
We do not currently run an affiliate programme or set referral cookies. Cloudflare's infrastructure and performance service has its own data-handling practices. Ordinary external links may take you to sites with their own privacy and cookie practices. If email signup or affiliate links are enabled later, this page and the relevant disclosure will be updated before they go live.
